5 Ways to Dress Like Duchess Catherine: Kate Middleton Inspired Wardrobe

How-to-Dress-like-Kate-Middleton

Today is the wonderful Duchess Catherine’s birthday. Happy Birthday Duchess of Cambridge! She is my style and personal icon. I think she is so classy in every way. I know her title is Duchess (of Cambridge) Catherine but the media and fashion article still tags her at Kate Middleton so I will use both for reference. Today’s post is a Kate Middleton Inspired Wardrobe.

There are 5 consistent pieces that Kate Middleton wears. The theme to her wardrobe is lots of classic, clean lines, feminine, and timeless pieces. Her style inspires my own wardrobe and I’m sure also many women. The most beautiful thing about her wardrobe is that really any woman can pull it off because it’s classic.

  1. Blazers

First, a Kate Middleton inspired wardrobe starts with blazers. Blazers are a must for any wardrobe. Blazers are versatile and give an instant professional feel.  The tailored and crispy look of blazers is another reason why Kate Middleton rocks blazers so well. She knows how just a simple blazer can make an outfit classic and sophisticated.

Kate Middleton almost always wears only long sleeve blazers and pairs it with short sleeve or sleeveless dresses. In addition to long sleeve blazers or three quarter blazers, she does tend to wear navy, black, grey or any shade of blue blazers. She also wears blazers with a t shirt and skinny jeans (more about that later). Duchess Catherine shows us that blazers can be beautiful worn dressed up or dressed down. Linked below are some blazers inspired by blazers she wears.

2. Long Coats/Dress Coats

First, Trench Coats and any coats in general are not just for staying warm but also dressing up any look. The Duchess is often seen wearing long trench coats with a dress underneath and sometimes paired with tights. The weather in London does get cold so long coats and trench coats are a necessity for Kate Middleton. Coats are well really a necessity for winter anywhere. Duchess Catherine also keeps her fashion modest so coats also add extra converge with her dresses and simple practicality with the windy weather. Additionally, coats polish off any look. Linked below are some long coats and trench coats inspired by the ones she wears.

3. Sheath/Shift Dresses

Next, a Kate Middleton inspired wardrobe is not done right without talking about her signature dresses. Kate Middleton’s wardrobe is classy, feminine, and also modest and that is so true with her choices of dresses. Her dresses never fall too high above the knee. Kate Middleton often wears dresses just at the knee or right below the knee. The method to those lengths not only is modest and classy but it is perfect for keeping the legs looking long and lean.

Duchess Catherine tends to wear solid printed dresses but she has been wearing more floral and different pattern dresses lately. Her red carpet looks are often long dresses with a variety of different colors and patterns. Therefore for the purpose of signature pieces in her wardrobe, I will just focus on the simple and sleek dresses she wears. The range of her dresses usually falls under the category of shift dresses, sheath dresses, wrap dresses, and flare dresses. There are all those examples inspired by her signature dresses below.

4. Skinny Jeans/Skinny Pants

Next is Kate Middleton’s signature piece from her casual looks. Another signature wardrobe piece that the Duchess wears is skinny jeans and skinny pants. She tends to wear solid wash skinny jeans either denim or solid colored pants whenever she is traveling or with her kids local. Her pants and jean choices are void of holes or rips but instead are classic solid shades. The Duchess knows that tailored pieces like skinny jeans and skinny pants are a must. A good pair of solid skinny jeans paired with a blazer and tee is still sophisticated. Linked below are skinny jeans inspired by hers.

5. Wedges/Pumps

Finally, a wrap up a Kate Middleton inspired wardrobe finishes with her signature piece in almost every single outfit.  Her signature shoes are basic wedge or basic pumps. She opts for solid colored wedges and pumps. She also tends to wear navy or black wedges and nude pumps or black pumps. Wedges are practical and pumps have some heel without going overboard. Kate Middleton is smart with her choice of comfortable shoes but still staying feminine. Both wedges and pumps can be mixed and match with either casual looks or dressy looks. The Duchess shows above how that is done in the best way. Linked below are some options for Kate Middleton inspired shoes.
