3 Outfits Styled 3 New Ways + Mix and Mach Your Wardrobe Tips

Happy weekend! Today there’s a special post here on Southern Sophisticated. I am styling 3 outfits featured on my blog before styled 3 news ways. These are items I have featured before styled one way and I am sharing how I was able to style them a different way. Plus I am sharing how you can incorporate style tips to mix and match your wardrobe.

One of my favorite things to do is to challenge myself to styling my outfits’ different ways. I love seeing outfits a different way then maybe I had seen them before plus it is a more economical way to go. All these outfits below I talk though my style tips and give insight on easy style tips.

Mix and Match Style Tip 1 –  Dress down an outfit you Dressed up before.

First, my denim button up top with the cutest embroidered detail was featured on my Instagram. I have always been a fan of denim tops and this one is very comfortable and flattering. I usually have worn this top with jeans or pants but I decided to dress it up a little with a cute white Eyelet Midi Skirt.

My white eyelet Midi skirt was featured in a beautiful spring outfit post here. When I styled it then, I was in full fledged Spring mood with the colors and the flowers in the background lol. But I decided to dress the Eyelet midi skirt down just a little so I added my denim button up embroidered top. This gave it a laid back look but and less dress than how I styled it before. When you dress down an outfit it doesn’t always have to be to the other extreme. Sometimes you can just take one piece and allow that piece to be more casual whether it’s a top or your shoes to dress down an outfit.

Mix and Match Style Tip 2 –  Take a Classic Tee that can be Styled for Work.

(As a disclaimer, Sorry I look extra orange in this set. The lighting was hitting me really strange and made me look like a tiger. I swear my spray tan was not that off lol.) One of the most classic pieces for your Spring and Summer wardrobe is a Peplum tee. When I bought this Peplum tee, I knew right away that I could style it many ways. It is a classic blouse that can take really be styled anyway. But for this blog post today, I chose to style it for work with a classic blush pencil skirt. Although the Peplum top is a tee, it is still a little bit dressy to be work appropriate. It is not a graphic tee or a v neck tee so it works for the office as well.

When I styled this white Peplum Tee before, I kept it simple with classic denim jeans. It is a very easy top to throw on and go. But the great thing about this top is that it is comfortable and easy to make into an effortless look either way.

White V Neck Tee and Plaid Pants

Mix and Match Style Tip 3 – Be creative and find pieces in your wardrobe that can take on a different form.

The most comfortable dress pants and work pants I own right now are these plaid pants. I always want an excuse to wear them. They have been a huge hit here with my blog readers. I have raved about them many times. I knew I wanted to challenge myself to style them a different way then just for work.

Previously, I styled these plaid pants for a classic work wear post here. They are perfect for work and comfortable especially when you are sitting down a lot. But I wanted to dress them down a little or style them for more of a dinner look. I chose to take my favorite V neck tee and grabbed a classic denim jacket to create more of a street style look. This look is classy but laid back. It is a comfortable outfit and something I will be styling for dinner when I want to look put together yet comfortable.

My favorite v neck tee is a jersey material and is incredibly soft. I styled previously in this post here. When I was looking at my wardrobe for this post, paring one of most comfortable tops with my most comfortable pants was a match made in heaven. What’s cool is that both pieces were able to take on a little bit different forms. I was able to dress up the basic tee a little while dressing down the plaid pants some.
