Give Thanks Always: A Lifestyle of Thanksgiving

The month of November brings anticipation of Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is filled with hustle and bustle. There is lots of cooking and last minute preparations. Americans tend to center Thanksgiving around food but yet the origin of Thanksgiving Day is not solely focused on food. Americans 1st celebrated Thanksgiving centered on faith, family, and celebration of freedom and thankfulness for all the Lord had done. That is a powerful reason. But thanksgiving should not just be for Thanksgiving holiday; thanksgiving should be a lifestyle to give thanks always.

A lifestyle of thanksgiving starts with a thankful heart. A thankful heart starts with contentment. Contentment comes from a healthy perspective. Perspective is how you view life. Life is what you have been given as a gift from God. Often times we do not live a lifestyle of thanksgiving because we are focused on what is wrong with us, our family, our job, and really any area of our lives. We also allow the weight and heaviness of this negative world into our souls.

One of the biggest hindrances to living a lifestyle of thanksgiving is when we dismiss a great blessing that just happened, and move on to focusing right back again on what is wrong with our lives. If our choice to have a thankful heart is solely conditioned on only when good things happen, we will be forever chasing happiness like trying to catch the wind. What if we focused on what good has already happened in our lives?

give thaks always

You may be struggling with your health but you are still here, and there is a plan for your life. You may want a new house but be thankful for a roof over your head in the meantime. You may be lonely but be encouraged that you are not alone because God loves you. You may be sick and tired of being tired but be thankful that you still have breath in your lungs and your heart is still beating. That means there is still hope. There is always something to be thankful for. Shifting your focus to what good has happened is the better perspective to have in life. Do not forget what blessings have already happened like the blessing of today. You woke up today. Not everyone woke up today and breathed in the morning air. Be thankful for another day. Remember to Give Thanks Always!

Give Thanks Always.

Take care,
