Today’s Outfit of The Day is a causal and fun street style look. I am going to be talking about how repeat colors in an outfit. This is a technique I do on the daily. It is also a great technique to use so you can mix and match your wardrobe.

I picked out this adorable and comfy shirtdress from American Eagle. Shirtdresses are one of my favorites and I have featured them a few times already in my posts like this here and here.  Since it is loose fitting, I paired it with skinny capris. I chose a white wash denim because I wanted this outfit to be appropriate for summer colors. In the fall, I will wear this with some black skinny jeans. Mix and match is the way to bargain! This shirtdress also had white wash in the design so I wanted to bring out that color. Because the grey color of the shirtdress is a cool color, I wanted to add some detail that would make the outfit pop. Blue is a cool color. The blue details in this outfit added a pop of color to the outfit without competing with the grey and white.

For accessories, I started with some comfy slip on sneaker with a grey blue. I also added an adorable handbag from Sloane Ranger. The handbag is super convenient to carry lot of stuff . There is enough room to bring a change of clothes like if you are going out to eat after work or changing from the gym. I also love the grey and blue tones that were perfect of my outfit. Next, I added some super cool shades. I went a little brighter blue for the shades. Finally, I finished it off with a grey Fedora hat. I got the hat from my trip to San Francisco. I do not have an exact link for the hat but I linked some similar. This street style outfit just screamed adding a hat.

When it comes to style, repeating colors like I did with the grey, white, and blues is a great way to keep a look interesting. Also do not be afraid to wear different shades of a color like I did with the blue. I had light blue shoes but royal blue shade for my sunglasses. It is nearly impossible to get the same exact shade of accessories all the time. This is a great technique to use what you have in your wardrobe already. I hope you liked this street style guide. Side note. Are there any fans of the 70’s music here? I totally had the song “Staying Alive” by the BeeGees stuck in my head during this photoshoot. I was strolling down the street like their music video. I know lame but I love that song.

  1. Girl, you are funny! The part listening to the BeeGess while strolling I had an outburst laughing moment. You always sport the cutest outfits. It’s always a challenge for me with dark colors especially black, because if it fades I always think it looks off against another black that isn’t faded. I’ll have to try grey or blue look. I don’t have many light color time clothings. Besides white. I need to change up my wardrobe. Thanks for sharing!
