My Capsule Basics for Spring and Summer

Capsule Basics for Spring and Summer

Today’s Tuesday Treat is a special post. I am sharing some of my Capsule Basics for Spring and Summer. Check out top picks from denim shorts to favorite basic tops.

Capsule wardrobes are fun to share because we all have favorite clothes that are our go to items that work for us over and over again. But I believe there are plenty of items that we all commonly share as a capsule wardrobe such a favorite basic tees and jeans etc. Last year I created a mini collection of my year round capsule wardrobe items check that out here. Also I created a winter mini capsule collection here. So I wanted to share my favorite basic items for Spring and Summer that I wear a lot and have worn a lot in past years. These are not only my go to items but they are also some of my top sellers from my blog readers.

1. Favorite Basic Tee – We all need a good basic tee to wear year round and style for whatever we need. I have bought many tees from different brands. But this one is a number 1 winner to me personally and even a top seller from my blog. It is V neck which is very flattering. It is jersey material so it is super soft. It is not paper thin and comes in several colors. Also it is versatile for everyone because it also comes in petite sizes. It is the perfect tee. See an example of it styled here.

2. Favorite Cami Dress up or Down. Cami’s are another great item to have in your wardrobe for Spring and Summer. This cami is a favorite of mine because it is a satin material so you can dress it up for work like I did with a blazer here or dress it down like I did in a fall outfit post here. It is flattering on and comes in several colors.

3. Favorite Styled Tee – The best basic tee with a little style is this Peplum Tee. It is a top seller not only on my blog but just in the general world of online shopping. It is that perfect go to top to throw on and go. It is flattering on everyone. It is affordable and has a great size range. Also it comes in other colors. See it styled here.

4. Favorite Lightweight Cardigan – Cardigans are a must year-round. Even in Spring and Summer, it can get cold inside stores or even sometimes in the morning. But it is also warmer so we need a lightweight cardigan. This cardigan is the best. It is flattering and not bulky on the arms. The sizing is longer so I always get an XS petite but I grab the regular if the petite is sold out. I love this cardigan from this particular brand that much and own other colors that it comes in. See it styled in Southern Sophisticated best-selling outfit post this year so far here.

5. Favorite Jean Shorts – Can we be honest here and say that finding jean shorts are hard? Some of us can’t seem to find shorts that cover all bases if you know what I mean lol. Honestly, I don’t like shorts that much for that reason that it’s hard to find anything that won’t ride up when I sit down or walk. I found these perfect Denim shorts with a little bit of distressed detail. They are a great length and very flattering on. It is UK sizing so (size up). I have the UK 4/US 0-2 for a just right fit. Plus I own the UK 6/US 2 to give myself extra wiggle room depending on the top I’m wearing. See them styled here and here from last year.

6. Favorite Dress Shorts – Classic Dress shorts for Spring and Summer are a must. But it is hard to find dress shorts especially white ones that are not sheer. When I found these Tie Waisted shorts, the quality blew me away. They are not sheer (though wearing bright colored underwear or bras under anything light colored is never a good idea). These are not sheer like most white or light colored shorts no matter what colored underwear I’m wearing lol. They are the perfect length and come in other colors. See them styled here.

7. Favorite White Jeans – White jeans are a year round classic but we tend to wear them more in Spring and Summer. Not all white jeans are equal but these two are a favorite and both under 100! The first one is a favorite because they are very comfortable and the light distressing adds style. I featured them in a Review of White Denim Jeans post here. The second pair is very flattering and slimming as well as high waisted. See how I styled this pair here.

8. Favorite Light Wash Denim Jeans – Normally in Spring and Summer, we tend to wear lighter washed denim. These jeans and here have been my go to and featured many times on my blog like here and here. They are very faltering with heels or rolled up with wedges or simple with flats. They always sell out fast. I linked the same line that has other washes as well. Size up for UK sizing (I wear 26 by 30).

9. Favorite Wedges – There are so many good wedges out there for Spring and Summer. My photographer asked me the other day about my shoes that I bring for photoshoots. She asked me which were most comfortable. I told her these Wedges are still my most comfortable out of all these wedges/espadrilles I have bought in the last few years. You can really walk a long time in these. They are easy to slip into yet they keep your foot in place. The huge amount of positive reviews you will see online is amazing! I wore them so much on last year’s blog posts like here and here.

10. Favorite Heel Sandals – We all need a good go to simple heel that is great for dressing up or down. These block heels are a go to because they are so comfortable and versatile. They are a classic to have in your Spring or Summer wardrobe. I have dressed them casually with shorts and with dresses. They aren’t too high or dressy to wear with casual shorts or dress up with a cute dress. See them here and here styled.
